BIOGRAPHY
Austin TX-based Gentlemen Rogues celebrate aggressive guitar pop, with punk-inflected energy, polished, precise songwriting, and hooks as sharp and sleek as the Rickenbackers they bang them out on. This is a four-piece for Now People, drawing inspiration from UK legends like The Jam, XTC, The Smiths, and Teenage Fanclub, while steadfastly blasting their own course through an American indie rock canon shaped by The Replacements, Sugar, Material Issue, and Superchunk…Manchester by way of Minneapolis. Collectively, Danny Dunlap (vocals, guitar), John Christoffel (guitar), David Hawkins (bass), and Josh Power (drums) crank out catchy, amplified treble kickers, mixing powder keg intensity, classic melodies, and brash theatrics into a 200-proof distillation of brazen rock ‘n’ roll.
Consistently winning over audiences with their vital and urgent live shows, Gentlemen Rogues have shared the stage with such diverse musical outfits as the Lemonheads, Smoking Popes, Ultimate Fakebook, The Lambrettas, Riverboat Gamblers, Mrs Magician, Field Day (Dag Nasty), and The Dandy Warhols.
In their campaign to rule the airwaves, Gentlemen Rogues were handpicked by Stevie Van Zandt as having "The Coolest Song In The World" the week of February 15th, 2021, on his SiriusXM radio show, Little Steven's Underground Garage. Their track garnered heavy airplay throughout the week and stayed in heavy rotation for many months. Gentlemen Rogues have also garnered radio play throughout the United States on various college and Internet radio shows, as well as across the pond on Amazing Radio (UK) and BBC Radio 6's Tom Robinson Show.
"Setting up shop somewhere in the middle of The Replacements and The Old 97’s, Gaslight Anthem and Teenage Fan Club, the Gentlemen Rogues are aggressive, guitar-driven rock brought to you through Rickenbacker guitars and a boatload of sass.” - American Songwriter
"...earworm pop music with oomph, sleek production and just the right amount of intensity, indebted to a ‘90s indie rock soundscape a la Ted Leo & The Pharmacists and Superchunk."- Keep Track of the Time “…melodic riffs, straddling a line between melody and distortion, hark back to the very best college rock of the 90’s. It’s indie rock heaven and needs to be heard by everyone."- Real Gone
